SCHOOL DISTRICT U-46 SCHEDULES FORUMS

TO GATHER FEEDBACK ON POSSIBLE BUDGET REDUCTIONS

It has been reported, discussed and analyzed. It is the subject of concerns and speculation - the U-46 deficit. In a week the opportunity for employees and community members to learn more about the budget and provide feedback will be presented.

Dr. Jose M. Torres, Superintendent of School District U-46, has scheduled five public forums in order to receive feedback from the U-46 community and employees regarding possible budget reductions for next school year.

Attendees at each forum will hear a brief overview of the current revenue shortfalls that are occurring across the State of Illinois, and then hear the list of reductions that were considered by the district’s Budget Advisory Task Force.  Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to put themselves in the role of decision-maker and provide input on areas of potential reductions using an online survey that will list possible areas of savings and the amount that will be realized.  Computer labs will be available at the conclusion of each forum for individuals who do not have internet access at home. You must attend a forum to participate in the survey.

“I believe our communities will see that there are no easy budget cuts,” said Torres.  “More importantly, these forums will provide the public and our employees the opportunity to give their recommendations for reductions before any final decisions are made,” he added.

Please take this opportunity to understand the financial issues the district is facing.
